Common Signs your Car Needs a Wheel Alignment

It's really quite amazing how much technology exists within our vehicles. But no matter how many computers and microprocessors there may be in newer cars some thing will never change; such as the fact a pothole can throw off your alignment! It is very important that your tires remain properly aligned, meaning the car drives straight without any issues, to ensure that your car is safe to drive and easy to control. A car's wheel may become misaligned after an encounter with a bad bump, curb or an accident. If you experience any of the following issues you can bet that there is some sort of alignment issue at hand.

Veering or Pulling

One of the most common signs of trouble if your car needs an alignment is a pulling sensation that occurs as your drive down the road. This means that your car veers or drives left or right without you trying to do so. There is two different types of pulling, soft and hard. Hard pulling is a very noticeable occurrence of pulling where you must fight with the steering wheel to keep the car driving straight. Soft pulling, on the other hand, may only be noticed when you have a soft grip on the steering wheel and the car tends to drift one way or the other. Either way, you should have the issue checked out to restore the car's functionality.

Steering Wheel Vibration

Another probable sign of wheel alignment trouble is a vibrating steering wheel. If your car is out of alignment it means that at least one tire is not pointing in the same direction as the others. Because of this your car will try to travel in two different directions at once which will result in your steering wheel vibrating back and forth as drive. It may be very subtle but if the alignment is bad enough it could be quite a ferocious shaking.

Uneven Tire Wear

If you experience any of the above issues you can often confirm it is alignment trouble by checking out the tread on your tires. If one tire is wearing differently than the others, or simply the one on the other side of the car, there is a high chance that one of the tires is crooked and needs to be properly aligned.

Alignment problems are a huge safety hazard because it means that you can't properly control your car or truck.
